Greetings Laney Families,
My name is Angie Ellefson and it is my pleasure to be working with your students this school year at Lucy Craft Laney. This is my first year at Laney and I am so grateful to be part of such a positive and energetic school community. I am excited to get to know you and your students!
I am originally from Ohio, where I received my first teaching license in Special Education from Bowling Green State University. After graduating I took a teaching job in rural Alaska. I told my friends and family I’d only be there for a year, but that one year ended up turning into four as I fell in love with the community. I truly enjoyed my job and students in Alaska, but always felt the desire to have my own classroom and community of learners. So, as I transitioned into life in Minnesota, I also found myself returning to school and received my K-6 General Education license through Hamline University in St. Paul.
I’m looking forward to a positive year of learning, personal growth and fun! Please take time to talk with your child about our attitudes and beliefs in E113. I bet they could tell you…
We have a growth mindset!
- I can learn anything that I want to.
- I am inspired by people who succeed.
- I like to challenge myself.
- I persevere when I am frustrated.
- Mistakes help me learn.
- I can always improve.
- My effort and attitude make all the difference.
I love myself… I change the world!
We bring our BEST all day, every day because we were made to be AWESOME!
I value your partnership in your child’s education because you know them best. If you ever have any questions, comments, or feedback, my door is always open. I love teaching, and your child is my priority.
Thank you, and here’s to a wonderful school year!
- Mrs. Ellefson

Students are responsible for completing homework Monday-Thursday. Every day they receive homework in their PURPLE homework folders. This includes one math sheet and one reading log. In addition to completing the reading log, students also need to spend at least 20 minutes reading every evening. The purple folders are also used for communicating important information to families, such as upcoming field trips, permission slips, newsletters, forms, fliers, etc.
The 4 Bs:
