2nd grade

Dear Families,

My name is Faye Wooten. The first thing you should know about me is that I love my job! I teach because I love it and I love children. I feel very fortunate to be at a school as wonderful as Lucy Laney. This will be my sixth year at Lucy Laney and many years in the Minneapolis district.

I will be your child’s Literacy Co-Teacher for the 2015-2016 school year. I want to welcome you into our 2nd grade classrooms. This will be my second year working as a Literary Co-Teacher, but I also have many years of experience as a second grade teacher. I am very excited about working with your child this year! As the Literacy Co-Teacher, I will co-teach with your child’s regular classroom teacher. We will teach reading everyday together, which means that your child will have two licensed teachers in the classroom for the reading block. The extra support will be a benefit for all students.

I grew up in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. I also graduated from the University of Minnesota and Concordia College.

I have a son attending the University of Texas in El Paso and another son who graduated from DePaul University this year in Chicago, Illinois. My youngest son is a senior in high school.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, dancing, and hanging out with friends and family.

I have a very busy and exciting year in store for your second grade child! It will be my goal to create a community of learners who are committed to working hard and having fun. I look forward to a great year. Together we can make this a successful year.
