We work hard, We share our knowledge and We have FUN!
Welcome to E116 Family

Hello! My name is Ms. Jaafar and I’m excited to welcome you as a part of the E116 family. I’m one of the second grade teachers at Lucy Craft Laney for the 2016-2017 school year. I’m extremely thrilled about being a part of your child’s journey in school and I’m looking forward to a wonderful and productive school year with you and your child.

A little history about myself, I was born in Malaysia (YES! It’s a beautiful country in Southeast Asia) and moved to Minnesota in 2005. I’m the second oldest child in my family: I have two loving brothers and an intelligent sister. My favorite thing to do when I’m not at my job is to spend time with my friends, taking photos, dancing salsa, reading, shopping, cooking, and taking care of my indoor plants. I’m also a self-proclaimed world traveler and would take every opportunity to explore this beautiful world any chance I get.

I graduated in 2006 from University Science Malaysia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts. In 2010, I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance. In 2013, I graduated from the same institution with a Masters of Education specializing in Early Childhood Education (Pre K–3) and Special Education. I have been a dedicated educator for almost 9 years in different capacities (music and dance facilitator, special education teacher, associate educator, preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher etc.) This will be my third year teaching at Laney and I could not be more excited!

Working together as a team, we can motivate, encourage, and enhance your child’s learning experience this year. Please do not hesitate to call me at 612-668-2200 (Room E116) for any questions, concerns, or to just find out how your child is doing at school. As part of the ‘open door’ policy at Lucy Laney, you are always welcome to come participate in the classroom activities. Thank you and we're going to have a GREAT year!

                                                                                          Sincerely, Ms. Jaafar

We expect students to be at school everyday!  If for any reason your student needs to make arrangements for pick up or dismissal, it is important to call the office before 2 pm that day.
