Grade 4 Math

Hello! I am currently in my third year here at Lucy Laney. Prior to teaching here, I taught 4th grade math for Hiawatha Academies in South Minneapolis. Before relocating to the midwest, I worked for Boston Public Schools; teaching 4th and 5th grade--for 5 years.

I have been married for about two and a half years. My wife and I were blessed to welcome our daughter to the world last March. We live in South Minneapolis, with our cat, Sunny.

4th grade is an extremely important year of growth for our mathematicians. Our 4th grade standards include mastering our multiplication facts, as well as learning strategies for multiplying larger numbers. We spend a lot of time working with algebra, especially input-output tables. We will also discover division strategies and start dividing large numbers. We will finish out the year by diving into geometry, working with lots of quadrilaterals and finding area.

Please practice basic facts in all operations(addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with your student. Students can make flashcards, or they can be purchased at the dollar store.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with questions, or concerns.
