Hello Laney Families!
My name is Tiffany Payne and I am one of the classroom 2nd grade teachers here at Lucy Craft Laney. I am thrilled to be teaching second grade! School is in session Monday through Friday from 8:25am-3:00pm.
I will tell you a little about myself. I grew up just south of Minneapolis in Lakeville, Minnesota. I graduated from Metropolitan State University with my Undergraduate degree in Urban Elementary Education. I have been working with Minneapolis Public schools for close to six years in various roles including AVID, Minneapolis Kids, Associate Educator, and now Teacher! This is my forth year at Lucy Laney and my third year working with 2nd graders. I love being here at Laney with an awesome staff and a wonderful student body.
I am looking forward to getting to know the students and families better as the school year progresses so we can make this academic year a success! Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Here at Lucy Laney, we affectionately refer to one another as family. In E112, we go by this same philosphy, we are all like family and should treat each other as such. As a classroom and school-wide family, we have a few expectations we abide by.
-Be your best
Our school-wide expectations are known as the "4 B's." E112 abides by these rules as well. Have conversations with your child about each of these guidelines and how they can use them in school!

8:45-9:00 Morning Meeting
1:50-2:50 Science/Social Studies
Students rotate specialists daily. Below are the specialist subjects and teachers. Students go to specialist from 10:00-10:55 each day.
Students will receive a homework folder labeled "Homework Folder" on the outside. On the inside there are two different labels. On the left hand pocket it says "left at home" and on the right hand pocket it says "right back to school." The right hand pocket will contain the child's homework as well as parent communication sheets such as newsletters, notes, field trip slips, etc. The left at home pocket will contain sheets that do not need to be returned back to school. Please check your child's homework folder daily and make sure it comes to school with them every day.
Students will receive a homework packet each Monday starting the second week of school. These packets are due the following Friday. The homework packet is NOT meant to be completed all at once, but should be completed little by little each day. Homework reflects what we are learning in class and should be able to be completed by the child independently, however I highly encourage family members to participate in helping your child with homework so you can be involved in the learning process with us! 100% Homework completion is required in order for students to recieve free to be me.
Homework is an important part of the E112 family. It is taking what we are learning outside of school walls. There is positive incentive for students to complete homework each week, so make sure you are cheering your young learner on just as we are at school to do their homework!
